Future House Rules.

1. We’re all in this together. (The rules apply to everyone, AKA no double standards!)

2. We will speak to one another with kindness, even when we disagree. (No yelling, name calling, or harsh words. Teach your kids healthy ways to ask for what they want and to express in a controlled way how they feel.)

3. We will laugh together but never at one another.

4. We will take responsibility for our actions and words. (Make a list of the names and negative phrases you would like to eliminate from your family’s vocabulary, such as “dummy,” “stupid,” or “You make me sick.” Set consequences for offenders.)

5. We will ask forgiveness when we have hurt or offended someone, even if it was an accident.

6. We will keep confidential with what we share with one another.

7. We will respect another’s space.

8. We will respect one another’s stuff.
